Hi everyone!
I’m a few days late as I just returned from a couple of weeks in Germany and Austria, so am now trying to get back into the swing of work. Yes, it was a good trip; no I didn’t get to do a Volksmarch there. Had some potentials but weather wasn’t very cooperative and I prefer not to travel in wet clothes if possible. On a sad note, I connected with Hans-Dieter Fuhr, AVA’s liaison to the IVV, while there. He wasn’t able to meet me for a walk as his wife was having heart surgery. Unfortunately, she passed away that same weekend. So if any of you have walked with him and know him, I’m sure he’d appreciate a note from you at this sad time. His address and email are listed on the bottom of page 2 in every TAW. Send him a note … he’s always been there for American travelers who want to connect with Volkssporting in Europe … let’s show him we care.
The deadline for the December/January TAW is Tuesday, October 25 … that’s just a week from now! So consider this your butt kick to get your articles in on time so we can put together the TAW in an efficient manner. It’s a holiday issue, so if your club has any holiday events coming up, let us know about them! It’s also the first issue of the new year, so it might be a good time to summarize your new and unique weekend events coming up for 2017!
There are only four (4) issues left (including this issue) before the 2017 Billings Convention, so if you’ve got events going on that convention attendees might enjoy on their way to or from, get information in so folks can plan their travels! Convention folks, we need more details! Also, we’ll be looking at electing new leadership … if you’re thinking about running, better get going to get on the ballot! A future issue will feature bios and pix of those running for national office so clubs know what candidates’ are proposing for the AVA under their leadership.
Reminder that when you send articles to TAW, to use this format:
TAW/[your region]/[article title] …. this includes regional directors … some of you are still forgetting to note where your articles are meant to go. If it’s a general article, use that instead of the region.
Photos should be titled the same as your article … any photos received with camera titles will be sent back for you to retitle so they get placed with your article.
Emails with attachments names “TAW article” will be sent back for appropriate title and placement.
If you aren’t sure how to title your articles and photos, please ask … I can walk you through the process … well, at least most of you! :-) It really isn’t difficult and it really makes it easier for me to get your submission to the correct place.
Please forward this email to other walkers who might want to write about their clubs’ activities!
Thanks! Have a good week … and start writing! Let’s have a good representation from EVERY region this issue!
